Here’s a flashback from last year- perfect for the holiday… Happy Valentine’s Day!
It’s the age old dilemma of men verses women, and which sex is better…
And the answer is:
Hopefully, that got a chuckle or two (at least from the ladies, men are probably adamantly disagreeing), but is just my opinion. Neither sex is better than the other; they just each have their own unique strengths and weaknesses.
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to hear Dr. Ivan Misner and Hazel Walker speak on Business Networking and Se x (not what you think). The book examines men & women and the difference in how they network. This blog is going to share a few pieces that I picked up from their presentation, as they shared a few things that did not make it into the book… for more, you will have to read the book.
One of the points that had me laughing was that men are much more likely to try to do it themselves, and that can be why it takes them longer to be successful.
Trial and error comes to my mind here… it seems that women learning more through seminars and mentors; men learning it on their own.
Another thing that the research of over 12,000 people helped reveal, and that inspired the photo at the top, was that women like to work together while men try to do it alone.
And each of the authors shared a point that surprised them (paraphrased for my notes):
- Men spend more time networking, and get less business than women – Dr. Ivan Misner
- People think they are better networkers than they really are – Hazel M. Walker
What have you noticed when networking from men & women?
Or how about some real life examples of the above differences?
