Would you ask someone to marry you on the first date? And actually marry them on that date?
Yet, we are constantly doing just that, in the business world.
Imagine yourself at a networking event. Up comes to you someone new, we will call him Bob. Bob introduces himself, asks what you do, then shares with you his wonderful work, he’s sells widgets! Bob feels that you would greatly benefit from using his widgets, and asks you to buy one, then and there!
How do you feel?
Annoyed?  Invaded? Put off?
In building relationships, we have to DEVELOP the relationship before we ask for their trust, whether be to help us grow our business or for his/her hand in marriage.
